In the Name of Love

In the Name of Love
In the Name of Love
Set in 1970s Norway this comedy-drama from creator Bård Breien (the award-winning ‘The Art of Negative Thinking’) is inspired by his own distinctly unconventional upbringing. Anne-Lise Bang (Maria Bonnevie), a primary school teacher, does everything to keep her husband Lars (Trond Espen Seim)’s highly profitable porn business a secret. For his part, Lars sees his line of work as an act of social protest. Their two sons, played by real-life brothers Jakob and Jonas Oftebro, are caught in the middle – until a family confrontation becomes inevitable. This is a story of opposites attracting and colliding, of freedom and decency, and of family conflict and resolution.

In the Name of Love premieres on SBS On Demand Thursday 4.

Faithless

A man and his daughter are next to each other smiling
Nancy (Carmen Rose Youssef) and Sam (Baz Ashmawy)
After Sam and Tracy Amin attend a tense meeting at their daughter’s school, Tracy is tragically killed by an ice-cream-van. Egyptian-Irish Sam must raise his three daughters with some support from his Egyptian father and Irish mother-in-law, and his narcissistic half-brother. The girls struggle to cope with their loss: Layla turns to Islam, Nancy finds comfort with her family, whilst Lina struggles the most. Somehow, they find light in darkness and humour in these sad times. This is a captivating, timely and refreshingly funny series. It takes a comedic, tantalisingly honest and insightful look at an emerging Ireland, with its multi-cultural facets and challenges.

Faithless premieres Monday 15 April on SBS On Demand, double episodes air weekly on SBS VICELAND the same day at 9:25PM.
