Former NSYNC member Lance Bass has shared the story of how he came out to Britney Spears on her wedding night.

Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Cohen raised the subject, saying: "I remember you telling me Britney Spears was one of the first people you came out to."

Bass appeared more than happy to elaborate on the tale, explaining: "It was the night she got married the first time, in Vegas."

Bass was referring to Spears' 2004 wedding to childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander - a marriage which famously lasted only 55 hours, with Spears reportedly not understanding the significance of what had taken place.
Still, Bass said that he flew to Vegas to "see the craziness that was happening."

According to the openly gay singer, Spears was visibly "upset" about the wedding - so much so that Bass took her to his hotel room and made a very personal confession.

"She started really crying, she was so upset," Bass recounted. "So I took her to her room and we sat on the bed. She wouldn’t stop crying so I was like, 'I’m gay.'"

He added: "And it made her stop crying."

Bass then mentioned how supportive Spears was of his admission, saying she even chuckled at the news.
