More bones have been found by police searching for the remains of murdered woman Lateesha Nolan in central western NSW.
Officers on Wednesday found more skeletal remains at a riverbank near Dubbo, where a thigh bone belonging to the 24-year-old - who was killed nearly 12 years ago - had already been found.
The thigh bone was found by a member of the public on the banks of the Macquarie River south of Dubbo in November, with police confirming on Tuesday it belonged to the 24-year-old mother of four.
The bones found on Wednesday will undergo forensic testing, expected to take about three weeks.
Homicide squad detectives began searching the riverbank near Butlers Falls on Tuesday in the hopes of uncovering more of Ms Nolan's remains.
The 24-year-old was murdered in January 2005 at the hands of her cousin Malcolm Naden.
He strangled her in her car after becoming angry during an argument, then dismembered her body and buried it beside the Macquarie River.
Naden then went on the run for seven years before being captured in 2012 after one of the state's biggest manhunts.
After his arrest Naden pleaded guilty to Ms Nolan's murder and led officers to the site in 2012 where excavations were carried out but her remains were not found.
Ms Nolan's father Mick Peet flew from Queensland to Dubbo to visit the spot where the bone was found.
He said he used to take his daughter swimming at Butlers Falls when she was little.
"This is a start. That is what I am hoping for," he told Dubbo's The Daily Liberal newspaper.
"We always wondered if (Naden) was telling the truth about where he buried her. I guess he was," Mr Peet said.
