The police prosecutor asked that the case be brought back before the court within four weeks because more charges were expected to be laid against Naden.
Magistrate Morohan complied with the request.
"At least it gets things moving," he told the court.
Naden has so far been charged with the murder of 24-year-old Kristy Scholes in Dubbo in June 2005 and with aggravated indecent assault in relation to an incident involving a 15-year-old girl, also in Dubbo, in 2004.
He also faces a charge of shoot with intent to murder over an incident involving a police officer at Nowendoc on December 7, 2011.
Outside the court, his lawyer said Naden - who had a bandage on his lower left leg and limped out of the court - had suffered some injuries.
"He's in reasonable health but he's very tired," Mr Jones told reporters.
"He's got serious bite marks on both legs inflicted by police dogs at the time of his arrest."
"Other than that, that's all I can say."
Naden was arrested at a private property near Gloucester just after 12am (AEDT) on Thursday after almost seven years on the run.
TREATED FOR DOG-BITE
Earlier, Naden was escorted from hospital after receiving treatment for a police dog bite he suffered during his arrest.
The 38-year-old left Manning Base Hospital surrounded by police in riot gear with his ankles shackled and a bandage around his lower left leg.
With a blue-hooded forensic services jacket covering his face, he was taken to a waiting police transport van and driven away ahead of an expected appearance in Taree Local Court later on Thursday.
Naden was bitten on the lower left shin by a police dog during the scuffle and an officer also sustained minor wrist injuries.
He was taken to hospital shortly after 11am (AEDT) on Thursday and released about an hour later after the wound was restitched.
MIDNIGHT RAID
Officers surrounded and arrested the 38-year-old just after midnight (AEDT) on a private property near Gloucester, in the state's mid north.
NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione has thanked all of the officers who played a role in ending his almost seven years on the run.
Mr Scipione told a Sydney news conference that no shots were fired and there were no injuries when Naden was taken into custody.
