Back To Life

Fans of Daisy Haggard’s “near-perfect TV” show (The Guardian) will be thrilled to welcome season 2. We pick up a few weeks on from where season 1 left us as Miri (Haggard) re-enters life after 18 years in prison. Her probation officer has got her a trial shift at the supermarket and she’s been spending more time with her neighbour, Billy, but things are icy between her and her mother, after she found out something rather shocking about Caroline (played by the ever watchable Geraldine James). From the producers of FleabagBack to Life is poignant, memorable and funny.
Season 2 of Back To Life is now streaming  (don’t delay streaming season 1 – it will be leaving on 31 October 2021).

Departure

Canadian thriller Departure is back for season 2. This time, Kendra (Archie Panjabi) is working alongside the FBI to find out what caused the crash of a high-speed train in rural Michigan. With several leads to follow – the tech mogul inventor of the train’s software, a mysterious member of a Mexican drug cartel, a disgruntled employee resisting the train’s automated technology – Kendra has her work cut out for her. We love Panjabi in this role.

Season 2 of Departure was the last for co-star Christopher Plummer, who died in February, aged 91. The legendary Canadian actor filmed all his scenes from his own home due to the pandemic before he died.

Departure seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming .

Temple

Mark Strong. Carice Van Houten. If you need more information than that, Strong plays Daniel, a surgeon who runs a literal underground surgery for folks unable or unwilling to access aboveground medical treatment, in the tunnels beneath London’s Temple tube station. Season 2 picks up from where season 1 left off, with Daniel determined to stay ahead of his own lies. His wife Beth has awoken from her coma, and Eve makes a startling discovery. Lee is swept up in a fanatical cause while life for Anna, who lures patients down to the clinic, gets more and more intense. Watch it. Trust us.

Season 2 of Temple premieres exclusively in Australia  from Friday 29 October, fast-tracked from the UK. Catch up with season 1 episodes.

Hierro

Investigating magistrate Candela is transferred to El Hierro, the most remote of the Canary Islands. There, she discovers a suspicious community and is confronted by the death of a young local lad, murdered the day before his wedding. The prime suspect is the father of the bride, a man by the name of Diaz, a rich businessman with a dodgy reputation. Despite being motivated by diametrically opposed interests, Candela and Diaz share the same goal: to find the real killer.

In season 2, a few months have passed since El Hierro was shaken by a series of murders, and a sense of peace finally prevails. Candela is out of place on the island, but she’s slowly getting used to its idiosyncrasies and is determined to solve her new case, involving drug trafficking.

Exit

Based on shocking true stories from the exclusive world of Oslo’s high finance, this Norwegian drama follows four friends who seem to have it all. The men are driven by narcissism and getting whatever and whoever they want. At their private party pad, they escape the boredom of their lives with hedonism and reckless partying. Critics and fans can’t seem to get enough of the hedonism in this Norwegian crime drama, back for a second season with it's all-star cast. Inspired by real life, we’re in for even more sex, drugs and moral depravity. Mega rich playboys, Adam (Simon J. Berger - ), Henrik (Tobias Santelmann -  & ), William (Pål Sverre Hagen -  & ) and Jeppe (Jon Øigarden - Mammon &) confront the consequences of their debauchery while corruption leads to more outrageous behaviour, if you can believe it, while Hermine (Agnes Kittelsen - ) and Celine (Ine Marie Wilmann - ) descend to a dirty level of play in a world where naked ambition and sheer disrespect for self and others is the norm.

An Ordinary Woman

Season 2 of this popular thriller continues the story of 39-year-old Marina, living a double life as a well-adjusted florist and the madam of a prostitution network – quite the side hustle. Star Anna Mikhalkova won the coveted best actress award at Series Mania 2018, for her “sensitive and nuanced performance of a strong woman who constantly has to repress her most private feelings to survive in a corrupted society.” Combining an exceptional cast of strong female characters with stunning cinematography, we can’t wait to see what’s in store for Marina, who we think is far from ordinary. Female character stereotypes are challenged, but the series does not judge Marina and stops short of trying to fix or save her. An Ordinary Woman was also the first Russian TV series to have women leads.

Darkness: Those Who Kill

Darkness: Those Who Kill is a reboot of a 2011 Danish series, but this time they made it darker and more Nordic Noir and the acclaimed Danish crime drama is back for season 2. Criminal profiler Louise Bergstein (Natalie Madueño) is this time delving into the psychology of the serial killer of three young men, quickly uncovering a distinct pattern of behaviour. But Louise realises she may have a personal connection with the suspect, who’s more intelligent than she initially anticipated. From the producers of  and , this tense thriller provides gripping drama. The performances are as impressive as you’d expect.

Mr. Mercedes

Based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel and adapted by David E. Kelley, Mr Mercedes stars Brendan Gleeson as retired police detective Bill Hodges. Two years after retiring Hodges is still haunted by his last case, a massacre that left 16 people dead. The killer was dubbed Mr. Mercedes. When Hodges begins to receive a series of lurid letters and emails, from the supposed killer taunting him, he is forced to undertake a private and potentially felonious crusade to bring the killer to justice before he strikes again.
