Alone: Frozen

Alone: Frozen features six Alone veterans undertaking this extreme challenge. Launching closer to winter than any previous season of Alone, in this series they must use their skills, past experience and 10 items to survive 50 brutal days along the frigid and windswept coast of Labrador, Canada. Even worse than the cold and hurricane force winds, the six participants will compete for resources with two of North America’s largest predators, the black bear and the polar bear. Those left standing will split half a million dollars. Alone: Frozen is the most difficult and dangerous survival experiment ever attempted in the franchise.

Loosely inspired by real-life events, Dreaming Whilst Black follows Kwabena (Adjani Salmon), an aspiring filmmaker stuck in a dead-end recruitment job who takes the first step to achieving his dream. However, he is quickly confronted with the tribulations of balancing finances, love and his own sense of reality. Adapted from the award-winning web series of the same name, here Adjani Salmon has created a love letter to black culture, relationships and following your passions. It has been touted as blending "the formal inventiveness of Donald Glover’s Atlanta with the heartwarming romance of Rose Matafeo’s Starstruck" (Daily Telegraph UK); which sounds like an absolute must-watch combination.

The hit Irish crime drama returns for another season, and there have been changes at the Criminal Assets Bureau. Simone Kirby and Wouter Hendrickx are back, with Nora-Jane Noone (Jack Taylor, The Magdalene Sisters) joining in a key role. When Bibi (Kirby) approaches CAB with a deal: protection and immunity from prosecution in return for information, she is shocked to find things are different in CAB and the new team lead, DS Claire Wallace (Noone), is less inclined than her predecessor to deal with Bibi. But when coordinated cyber-attacks on CAB and the Belgian Counter-Terrorist Unit are linked back to the Brannigan case (which unfolded in the gripping international action of season 1), Claire is left with no option.

Nordic fans may remember this Swedish drama that begun in 2014, and now we are thrilled to be able to bring you the third and final season, along with seasons 1 and 2, which will also be streaming at SBS On Demand, if you want to watch from the beginning. A mother sends postcards to her estranged son and daughter, inviting them back to the guest house they grew up in. She gives each of her children one piece of advice and leaves them to ponder the meaning. In season 3, a few years have passed, and the Waldemar siblings gather at the family lodging house on Sunnanö where buried secrets and old injustices threaten them, not to mention new mistakes and drastic consequences.

The Mission

Marc Fennell - The Mission

Award-winning journalist Marc Fennell sets off on a global treasure hunt to piece together the hidden story of the strangest art heist you've never heard of. In a new three-part SBS documentary series, Marc unpicks a 40-year international true crime mystery that stretches from a bush mission in Western Australia all the way to an overseas presidential mansion. In January 1986, more than two dozen paintings - thought to be valued at millions of dollars - were slashed from the walls of the New Norcia Monastery in Western Australia, leaving police baffled.

What were these “European masterpieces” doing in a bush monastery? Why was such a complicated art heist left to a bunch of amateurs? And who was the hidden hand behind the audacious plot to smuggle the paintings out of the country? To find the answers, Fennell will need to carry out a global treasure hunt tracking the loot and plunder of crimes far greater than any art heist.

This new SBS Digital Original is a horror anthology that sees stories from the Australian Korean diaspora come to life in a haunting five-part series premiering just in time for Halloween. It adapts a modern twist on ancient Korean folklore stories, mixed with the supernatural beliefs and story traditions from Korean Shamanism. In it, is a creepy and off-kilter world with interconnected heroes, all struggling with fractured identities that were impacted by war and immigration. Each hero faces mortality in a unique way, coupled with a deep yearning that manifests in malevolent forms of evilness that the ensemble of characters must overcome collectively. If not, the goblins, ghosts and creatures that live in and around them will continue to devour the community.

Night Bloomers premieres Saturday 28 October at 9:30PM on SBS VICELAND and will be available to stream at SBS On Demand after broadcast.
