The wild and interesting guest stars of 'The Orville'

Pay close attention - almost every episode of the show has a fun celebrity cameo.

The Orville was one of the most fun shows on television. Adding to the joy of watching this complete box set is keeping your eyes open for celebrity cameos on the show. Some of them are obvious, others have beloved celebrities buried under layers of make-up.

Some of the celebrity appearances we've loved...

Charlize Theron

The Academy Award winning actress made a guest appearance in the first season episode '' as the captain of a spaceship that needed to be rescued - but quickly we realise she isn't exactly who she claims to be. Theron is only in the one episode so far, but as a friend of Seth MacFarlane's and former co-star in his film A Million Ways To Die In The West, it's a safe assumption that we may see her return to the show in its future.

Rob Lowe

He's the star of some of your favourite TV series, like The West Wing and Parks & Recreation. You might also have very fond memories of him from Wayne's World. Or, unfortunately, you may remember him from the TV movie . What's great about Rob Lowe is that he's always very game and puts his all into every role he's in. This included The Orville where he arrived on screen looking very... blue.

Patrick Wharburton

The episode '' featured the debut of the very handsome Tharl, the ships acting head of security. Look out ladies, not only is Tharl exceptionally dashing, but yes, he does have two esophagus'. Tharl is played by Patrick Wharburton, who is very well remembered for playing Puddy in Seinfeld, The Tick in the eponymous live-action show from 2001, and as Jeff in the sitcom Rules of Engagement.

Jason Alexander

Just as Star Trek: The Next Generation had Whoopi Goldberg cameo as the ships bartender, The Orville too has its own celebrity bartender - Seinfeld star Jason Alexander appears in the show as Olix. Alexander is still best known as George in Seinfeld, but there are those who will better know him as the slimy Philip Stuckey in Pretty Woman.

So many Star Trek actors

The Orville is an unabashed love letter to Star Trek TV shows, so it shouldn't be a surprise that there are a whole bunch of Star trek actors who have made appearances in the show. Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager) has made multiple appearances as Alara's father. Across the series you'll also see appearances by Marina Sirtis (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Tim Russ (Star Trek: Voyager), John Billingsley (Star Trek: Enterprise), F. Murray Abraham (Star Trek: Insurrection), and Tony Todd (multiple Star Trek roles). Behind the scenes are a number of Star Trek actors who have moved on to direct, such as Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: The next Generation), and Robert Duncan McNeill (Star Trek: Voyager).

Oh, and Norm MacDonald

Comedian Norm MacDonald recurred multiple times as Yaphit. We're not sure exactly what Yaphit is, but we do know he made liberal use of the ships parental leave policy.
