Fans of supernatural mystery are in for a treat with new SBS drama , which sees four families haunted by ghosts from the past, during the 'Hungry Ghosts' festival. It's now streaming at SBS On Demand, along with a wide array of movies and television shows that target a shared supernatural sweet spot.

In Hungry Ghosts, secrets from the past refuse to stay hidden and that's also the case in this hybrid Nordic Noir and supernatural thriller. It serves up some decent scares with murder, eels and nightmares, in a story about a case that brings two Oslo detectives face to face with their own demons.

Wayward Pines

A classic example of mystery box TV, Wayward Pines opens with a Secret Service agent (Matt Dillon) waking up with a head injury and a rat of unanswered questions. Stumbling into the peaceful small town of Wayward Pines, Idaho, poses more questions than it answers – a lot more. The locals are kind of creepy and when he decides to get out, it turns out to be much easier said than done.

The Crimson Rivers

This two-season gripping French thriller is based on the best-selling novel by Jean-Christophe Grangé, who is also the creative force behind the show. It follows detective Pierre Niémans (played by the legendary Olivier Marchal) and his new partner Camille Delauney (Erika Sainte) as they investigate a series of bizarre crimes in remote areas across France. Each case has a touch of the mystical about it, revealing forgotten customs or regional myths.
