TV DRAMAS

Creepy, mysterious and thrilling crime drama box sets to keep you on the edge of your seat.

THE DISAPPEARANCE
A glossy yet engrossing abduction mystery that ticks off all the Gallic clichés - glamorous stars, constant infidelities and a father who runs a classic French restaurant – while offering so many twists the Guardian described it as “like playing Twister in a tornado”.

WITNESSES
This thrilling French drama based in the North of France follows female detective, Sandra Winckler, who is investigating a wave of strange murders that are linked to a former crime squad legend, Paul Maisonneuve; a man who is now retired but forced to return to duty. Desecrated graves, dead bodies dug up and left in model homes and every time, the same ritual: a woman, a man, a teenager, who weren't related but who form a new family.

SPIRAL
A young woman is found brutally murdered and dumped in a skip. Leading the investigation is young public prosecutor Pierre Clement, who teams up with no-nonsense police captain Laure Berthaud and investigating magistrate Judge Roban. Together, they must establish the identity of the victim and get to the perpetrators while navigating a tangled web of political intrigue, prostitution and drugs - each with a different vision of justice, each with their own personal demons.
PARIS
Engrossing French mini-series featuring political corruption, love affairs and blackmail, all in one 24-hour period in the City of Light, as the lives of diverse characters from a cross-section of Parisian society intersect each other.

MOVIES

The Flight of The Red Balloon (2007)
Oscar winner Juliette Binoche gives a career-best performance in this gorgeous ode to both its Paris location and the history of French cinema. All about Juliette, the iconic floating red balloon, and Paris itself.

Leon: The Professional (1994)
Jean Reno plays an assassin with an unlikely protégé in the form of a 12-year-old girl (Natalie Portman) in this Luc Besson classic. Jean Reno wielding a monster pistol in John Lennon glasses and beanie is instantly recognisable.
Paris Je T'aime (2006)
Through the neighbourhoods of Paris, love is veiled, revealed, imitated, sucked dry, reinvented and awakened. A series of five minute stories from 20 internationally-renowned filmmakers illustrate the various styles, genres, encounters and lifestyles of Paris' arrondissements. Directed by a pleiad of filmmakers including Wes Craven, Ethan and Joel Coen and Gus Van Sant, and stars Natalie Portman, Steve Buscemi and Maggie Gyllenhaal.
