Juan Carlos: Downfall of The King

German miniseries Juan Carlos: Downfall of The King brings to life the story of former Spanish King and controversial figure Juan Carlos I in the lead up to his 2014 abdication from the Spanish throne. Though he led the country out of dictatorship, and initially amassed considerable popularity, allegations of animal cruelty and infidelity quickly changed public perception of Juan Carlos. Over four gripping episodes, the extent of his alleged corruption and abuse of power are detailed, and the life of this once-revered King is turned upside down by his own misdeeds. It’s the familiar tale of a tragic fall from grace but presented in an epically binge-worthy format.

Endurance: Race to the Pole

The race to the Pole undertaken by Scott, Shackleton and Amundsen at the beginning of the 20th century was as ambitious as it was dangerous. Theirs was an experience few could ever truly understand; that is, until now. British presenter and writer Ben Fogle and explorer Ben Fields retrace the steps of these three pioneering Edwardian adventurers in their series Endurance: Race to the Pole, right down to the same historical clothing and inhospitable conditions. Over three nail-biting parts, the pair are faced with extreme temperatures and the barren reality of the polar landscape, as they come to understand the magnitude of the trio’s feat. Sit back and enjoy this ode to the power of human endurance and a reminder of the incredible resilience of those original explorers who trod an unknown and uncertain path into the history books.
