Last night was television’s night of nights as our stars gathered on the Gold Coast for the 2019 Logie Awards, honouring the most popular and most outstanding television programming.

SBS was proud to receive the silver for Most Outstanding Sports Coverage for the 2018 FIFA World Cup: our warm congratulations to Craig Foster, Lucy Zelic and the whole team.
We also congratulate nominees Nicole Chamoun, Keisha Castle-Hughes and Ian Meadows. If you haven’t caught their shows yet, you can stream them now at SBS On Demand.

On The Ropes

On The Ropes, also nominated for Most Outstanding Miniseries or Telemovie, stars Nicole Chamoun as aspiring Iraqi-Australian boxing trainer Amirah Al-Amir. Amirah works in the family gym in Sydney’s western suburbs alongside her two brothers and has idolised her world champion father Sami (Igal Naor, Homeland) her entire life.

But when Amirah negotiates a professional debut match for her hardnosed fighter Jess O’Connor, played by Academy Award nominee Keisha Castle-Hughes (Game Of ThronesWhale Rider), her father is furious that she’s gone behind his back and threatens to cut her off. Desperate to chase her dream of transforming women’s boxing, will Amirah choose her fighter or her family?

Also featuring Jack Thompson as Sami’s long-time promoter Strick, On The Ropes is compelling Australian drama. The four-part series is also streaming in Arabic or Chinese.
