In case you missed out on enrollment, there's now a college course in New York dedicated entirely to the reality TV phenomenon that is RuPaul's Drag Race.

According to the , the full-semester spring college course is being taught by at the New School in Manhattan, with students studying the impact of Drag Race within the context of popular culture as well as learning about the history of drag.

“You might be surprised at the amount of academic writing that has been published focused on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’” Jeffreys told The Post.
He added: “I put this class together not only due to my love of drag performance but also to spark serious critical thought and analysis into something many people would poo-poo as not worthy of such deep concern.”

The course was certainly taken seriously last week, when contestants from the upcoming 11th season of Drag Race dropped by Jeffrey's classroom to meet the students.

Speaking to , Jeffreys said things got a little chaotic during the surprise appearance.

"After things calmed down we gathered around and the contestants were so open and generous answering the students’ questions," he said.

"Topics covered included what was the biggest surprise so far being part of the RPDR universe, how many of them had been in drag pageants and how working on RPDR was like preparing for a pageant and tips for performing a lipsync. In our class readings about reality TV authenticity is dissected as an important factor of the genre and the contestants addressed this issue with great insight.

"It was kind of like some sort of advanced Drag Queen Story Hour."
