Will and Grace star Megan Mullally has appeared on The Ellen Show, thanking Ellen DeGeneres for being a trailblazer for LGBTIQ+ representation on TV.

"Your show really laid the groundwork for Will & Grace,” Mullally told DeGeneres, referring to DeGeneres's 1990's sitcom, Ellen, in which she came out as gay.

“I don’t know if there would’ve been a Will & Grace had you not done that show and come out, so thank you for that."
She added: "Thank you for my career.”

DeGeneres used her popular sitcom as a platform to come out in 1997, in an episode titled 'The Puppy Episode' which saw her character reveal that she was a lesbian while at an airport.

Will & Grace paid homage to the iconic scene in this week’s season finale, with Mullally’s character, Karen Walker, coming out as straight to new flame Nikki, played by Samira Wiley - all while, you guessed it, standing in an airport.
