Eurovision fans are upset that the federal election is being held on finale day

"Since we have a Eurovision-election clash on our hands, shouldn't we just combine the two and decide our country's fate through a Eurovision vote?"

Thanks to Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Saturday May 18 is shaping up to be full of both democracy sausages and camp Euro-pop.

Some Eurovision fans have taken to social media to vent their frustration after Morrison announced that will be held on the same day as the Eurovision finale, where Australian Kate Miller-Heidke will be vying for international stardom.

Adding insult to injury, it also happens to be the same weekend that the final season of Game of Thrones airs.
"I find it frankly rude that the election is on Eurovision weekend," one Twitter user wrote, while another questioned whether there was a way to combine the two events.

"Since we have a Eurovision-election clash on our hands, shouldn't we just combine the two and decide our country's fate through a Eurovision vote?"

While polling will close before the Eurovision finalists hit the stage, it's likely many Australians will be watching along and switching channels as the results are announced - both for Eurovision champion and Prime Minister of Australia.
