The 23-year-old attacked over the top of the final climb of the day, the Cote des Fins with 14.5 kilometres to go and never looked back, holding off a strong chasing group to cross the line for the biggest result of her career.

Marianne Vos (Visma Lease-a-Bike) won the sprint for second from the group of favourites to take over the green jersey, while Liane Lippert (Movistar) finished third for the second day in a row.

Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon-SRAM) rode safely to remain in the yellow jersey, with stage winner Kerbaol moving up to second overall at just 16 seconds behind the leader and Kristen Faulkner (EF Oatly-Cannondale) dropping to third a further three seconds behind Kerbaol.

"I have never won such a big race," Kerbaol said after the stage.

"I've never been closer to all the girls in front. It's pretty crazy. We will do everything [to have the Yellow Jersey]. You always have to believe in it.
"Like last year, once I had the white jersey on my shoulders, I told myself I had to go get it. We're not far away there either. We're going to try everything and we'll see later. You just want to have no regrets.”

In a strong day for the Australian riders at the race, Sarah Gigante (AG Insurance-Soudal) finished 25th on the stage, with Grace Brown (FDJ-Suez) and Neve Bradbury (Canyon-SRAM) also coming in 27th and 28th respectively after huge efforts in the breakaway and the late chase of Kerbaol.

With an explosive last two days of racing now behind them, the riders head into the final two stages of the race which will take place in the high mountains, a summit finish on Le Grand Bornand on tomorrow's agenda before Alpe d'Huez takes centre stage on the last day.

The Tour de France Femmes continues tonight as the peloton make their way to the mountains in Stage 7, a 166.4km route from Champagnole to a summit finish on Le Grand Bornand. Watch the action from 9:30pm AEST on SBS VICELAND and SBS On Demand.
