Aussie wheelchair tennis ace Alcott is now just one match win away from achieving another slice of sporting history and SBS will bring you all the action as he looks to complete a golden slam with victory at the US Open on Monday.
The 30-year-old cruised into the finals with a straight-sets 6-1, 6-1 win against Japanese veteran Koji Sugeno 6-2 6-1 at Flushing Meadows in New York on Sunday (AEST) to book his place in what could prove a historic showdown with teenage rival Vink.
If Alcott secures victory against the Dutchman, he will become the first man in any form of tennis to win a ‘golden slam' in a calendar year after winning the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open as well as claiming Paralympic Gold in Tokyo.
It is a feat that can only be achieved in an Olympic/Paralympic year.
The Melbournian is seeking his third US Open singles title and 15th major in total.
He has lost just four games en-route to the final after taking just 55 minutes to hammer Sugeno, which took his season's record to 19 wins in 20 matches.
Alcott’s last match against Vink was a thrilling semi-final at the Tokyo Paralympics which the Aussie won 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
The Aussie's historic match will follow the conclusion of the wheelchair women's singles final between Diede de Groot and Yui Kamiji - with de Groot also looking to claim a golden slam with victory.
