Almost 50,000 fans packed into Allianz Stadium in the capital city’s west, where they were treated to an electrifying show by Sheeran, full of surprises throughout the night.
The entertainer was not only joined on stage by superstar legend and fellow Brit, Sir Elton John to serenade the crowd, but Sheeran’s First Nations-themed wardrobe choice also pleasantly surprised adoring Indigenous fans.
The Thinking Out Loud singer's Aboriginal t-shirt was worn throughout the entirety of his concert.
Photographed and posted on social media by people in the crowd, word about Sheeran’s fashion statement spread quickly nationwide and around the world, from Indigenous politicians to sporting stars, all whom said on social media that they were moved by the gesture.
Online comments also confirm that the move was interpreted by fans as a show of solidarity and support for Australia’s First People.
This isn’t the first time Sheeran has shown his camaraderie to Indigenous Australians.
Earlier this year, Sheeran surprised young students at a music workshop put on by the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME) in Brisbane delighting the audience of teens from around the state despite battling the flu.
The tour finishes up in at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland, NZ on Saturday 12 December.
