10 years of broadcasting the Koori Knockout

One of the world's largest gatherings of Indigenous Peoples is on NITV - for the 10th year running.

As the NSW Rugby League Koori Knockout kicks off its 47th year, it's also celebrating a decade of on-air action. 

NITV will be at the heart of the event in Sydney’s Leichhardt Oval, where a host of regional and metropolitan NSW teams battle it out for rugby league glory. Known as one of the largest gatherings of Indigenous peoples in the world, the Koori Knockout is rugby league at its best, with more than 100 teams across the men’s, women’s and junior tournaments competing for the top prize. For the 10th year running, NITV will act as the official media partner and sole TV broadcaster of this pivotal sporting weekend.

NITV will bring full day live match coverage of the semi-final and grand final clashes on Sunday 1 and Monday 2 October. Commentating from the Oval are presenters , and who will bring viewers exclusive interviews and news, while analysts will include , Ronald Griffiths and . Jodan will also be on the side-lines with for the first reactions from the ground.

This year, the broadcast will also be online live on from Friday, 29 September. Viewers can also keep up to date with all the Koori Knockout news via. live updates on Facebook and Twitter, including online scoring, interviews with key players, competitions and exclusive online highlights packages.

NITV’s NRL Footy Show, will air the Koori Knockout Live Gala Draw on Wednesday 27 September at 9pm with live crosses to the Wests Ashfield Rugby League Club and black carpet interviews with high-profile players. The program will also dish out reviews of NSW and Queensland Cup competitions and the Murri Carnival.



Head of Sport and Internal Productions at NITV, Mark Ella says,

“The Koori Knockout showcases some of Australia’s best rugby league talent and NITV is proud to bring viewers all the action and community stories from the event in 2017.

“The four-day carnival is a real modern-day corroboree that not only focusses on rugby league, but celebrates family, community and local Aboriginal culture.”
