William, Kate And Harry to host Obamas

The Obamas will stop in for dinner with William, Kate and Harry during their visit to London this week.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince Harry are to host US president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle for dinner at Kensington Palace.

Obama and the First Lady will dine at the palace on Friday after joining the Queen for lunch at Windsor Castle - the day after the monarch's 90th birthday celebrations.

"Their Royal Highnesses are very much looking forward to welcoming President and Mrs Obama to Kensington Palace," a statement from Kensington Palace said.

Obama and his family have forged a warm relationship with the royals during the president's time in office.

They met William and Kate in May 2011 when the Cambridges carried out their first royal duty as a married couple - less than a month after their wedding.

Newly-weds William and Kate greeted the Obamas in the 1844 room of Buckingham Palace at the start of the US state visit to the UK, and William also met Obama in Washington DC in 2014.

Last year, Michelle Obama took time out of her whirlwind trip to Britain to present gifts to Prince George and sister Princess Charlotte.

She gave baby Charlotte an American-made Amish rocking chair and a personalised Alpaca baby blanket and George a red American-made children's wagon known as a Berlin Flyer P-Wee Wagon.
