US President Donald Trump will honour the asylum-seeker deal with Australia "in some way", White House spokesman Sean Spicer says.
Mr Spicer, at his daily press briefing on Friday, also said Australian Ambassador to the US Joe Hockey's meeting at the White House on Thursday with Mr Trump's chief of staff Reince Priebus and senior adviser Steve Bannon was "a productive and candid conversation" after an unusually volatile week between the nations over the refugee deal.
"We are going to honour the commitments we have made in some way, meaning we are going to vet these people in accordance with the agreement that happened and we'll continue to have further updates as we do," Mr Spicer said.
