Here are Australia's gold medal hopefuls on day 11 of the Paris Olympics

With 16 gold medals up for grabs on day 11 of the Paris Olympics, Australian athletes including sailor Matt Wearn, divers Melissa Wu and Ellie Cole and track star Jessica Hull are all eyeing gold.

Tokyo champion Wearn is guaranteed a gold or silver medal in the men's dinghy competition after the final races were scrapped due to poor weather conditions.

He races from 11.45pm AEST on Tuesday.

Diving

Five-time Olympic diver Melissa Wu and Sydney teenager Ellie Cole are out for a podium finish in the women's 10m platform final.

Wu, who secured bronze in Tokyo 2020, will be looking for her third medal in diving at the Olympics. Cole will aim to better her sixth-place semi-final finish.

The platform final is scheduled for 11pm AEST.

Australian Kurtis Mathews is also set to make his Olympic debut when the men's 3m springboard competition starts at 6pm AEST.

Skateboarding

At just 14 years old, Australian skateboarder Arisa Trew will be looking to make her first podium, with some of her stiffest competition coming from 15-year-old teammate Ruby Trew (no relation) in the women's park competition at Le Concorde.

In this event, which starts at 8.30pm AEST, competitors do three 45-second runs and each skater's best score from their runs is used to determine who advances to the final.

The same process occurs in the final, but will determine the medallists.

Track and field

Australian track athletes Jessica Hull, Georgia Griffiths and three-time Olympian Linden Hall are set to compete in the women's 1500m.

Australia has never won a medal in the women's 1500m event but there are hopes Hull will break that drought after besting the Australian record this year by five seconds.

In the repechage events, Tayleb Willis will compete in the 110m hurdles, Ellie Beer in the 400m and Calab Law in the 200m.

Brooke Buschkuehl will seek to qualify for the women's long jump event while Olympics debutant Cameron McEntyre will compete in the javelin.

Reece Holder will try to beat his personal best of 44.53 in the 400m semi-finals while Alanah Yukich will compete in the 400m hurdles semi-final.

What else is happening

Eyeing successive Olympic medals after a breakthrough Tokyo bronze, the Boomers' campaign goes on the line against Serbia in the men's basketball quarter-finals. Their match starts at 10.30pm AEST.

Australia's Stingers will be looking to continue their stellar Olympic form and book a women's water polo final-four berth when they face Greece, with their match starting at 3am AEST.

Star beach volleyball duo Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Taliqua Clancy play off against Switzerland in the quarter-final as the Australian women seek to build on their silver medal in Tokyo.

The women's cycling team pursuit will be looking to match the track-topping feats of the Aussie men when they line up for qualifying.
