The producers of Fox's long-running animated sitcom 'The Simpsons', have responded to how an old episode of the show unknowingly predicted Donald J Trump would become president of the United States.
Their response was revealed in the opening credits of their latest episode, where Bart Simpson writes "Being right sucks" repeatedly on the classroom chalkboard.
The opening credits are an iconic part of the show's 27-year history.
Each opening sequence features Bart Simpson writing lines on a chalkboard, and each episode uses a new phrase.
The line refers to the story within an episode titled 'Bart to the Future' which aired in 2000.
It showed a future President Lisa Simpson inheriting her office from an outgoing President Trump.
"We've inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump," Lisa’s heard saying in the Oval Office duirng that episode.
The episode was meant to highlight “the vision of America going insane”, Dan Greaney, the writer of the episode, told earlier this year.
President-elect Trump will take office on January 20.
