Four Pakistani students will have an opportunity to study in Australia next year after receiving scholarship from the government.
The Turnbull government will fund more than 3000 students, professionals and researchers to pursue overseas learning and research opportunities next year.
Minister for Education and Training Simon Birmingham today announced the recipients of the Turnbull Government’s 2017 Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships and Endeavour Mobility Grants which provide opportunities for Australians to undertake study, research or professional development overseas and for overseas citizens to do the same in Australia.
“This program plays an important role in boosting Australia’s reputation for excellence in higher education and research and supports the internationalisation of those sectors,” Minister Birmingham said.
The Pakistani students who are awarded scholarships are: Shazra Abbas (The University of Queensland); Noor Yasin (Australian National University); Saqib Saleem Akhtar (The University of Western Australia); and Muhammad Farrakh Nawaz (The University of Melbourne).
Minister Birmingham said 67 Australian tertiary institutions will be offered funding support for more than 2800 students to join in Endeavour Mobility projects across 64 locations in Australia and overseas.
“Another 278 students, professionals and researchers will be offered professional development, study or research in Australia or overseas,” Minister Birmingham said.
Some of the countries where the students will come from are the UK, USA, India, China France Brazil, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Indonesia, Bangladesh and others.
