Meet the starcast of Punjabi movie ‘Big Daddy’

Big Daddy, a Punjabi family movie based on the father-son bonding is set to release on April 21, 2017.

The star studded team of this movie - Karan Battan, Satinder Chawla and Poras Beniwal have high hopes from the movie, which is being released on April 21, 2017.

Big Daddy’s film cast in Melbourne shared their views on the concept of this movie with SBS Radio’s . The movie is mainly shot in Australia.
Karan Battan is playing a lead negative character in the movie.

Mr Battan moved to Melbourne in 2005.  He has acted in short, independent and mainstream English, Hindi and Punjabi films/TV.

Karan has also appeared as an extra cast in TV shows such as Mr and Mrs Murder, Offspring, and Betterman. As a Punjabi actor, he was last seen in movie Sardar Ji 2.

Originally from Haryana, Karan grew-up in Chandigarh. After completing a degree in IT he came to Australia.

His passion for acting took him to Victorian College of Arts where he completed a Diploma Course in Acting.

“Indian-Australian film industry is growing and there is no dearth of promising talent. We just need a platform to showcase it either in India or Australia,” he adds.

Satinder Singh Chawla is also part of the star cast of this movie.

“My lifelong learning attitude took me to the field of acting. I got a chance to act in a short Film ‘Strings’,’ said Mr Chawla.

“Big Daddy has a big message for the society especially to youths who want to maintain family relations especially with their parents.”

“The experience of working with meaningful cinema encouraged me to play a character role in a domestic violence based movie - The Hidden Truth. This movie was selected for IFFM 2016.”

Mr Chawla was awarded the best actor award in VIRASAT Punjabi Film Festival 2016 for the short movie “Haloona”, which also bagged the title of ‘Best short movie’.

He also got special appreciation in Sikh Short Film Festival Australia.

“While I have three other projects in the pipeline, I am excited to be on big screen in the coming days, add Mr Chawla.

While talking about 'Big Daddy' Gurnam Sidhu, an educationist-turned-lyricist, anchor and comedian said, the movie contains entertainment for all age group of our community.

Mohammad Nazim (Saath Nibhana Sathiya fame) is in the lead role, which will see a transition of his career from TV to big screen.
