Karthik Chavali is yet to turn two but he already possesses an amazing ability to identify many countries on the world map and name their capitals.

The 22-month-old is being hailed as the smartest toddler in the country who can name all the planets in the solar system, besides identifying at least 38 countries on the world name and naming many national capital cities.

Karthik’s parents discovered his amazing ability when they began reading to him when he was just over a year old and brought home a world map.

“When he was 14 months old, we gave it [the map] to him and to our utter surprise, he was able to remember and tell it back and also remember it and tell it the next day as well,” his father Vishy Chavali told who is the regional manager for an Indian IT company in Brisbane.

Karthik’s mother Sailaja Kandukuri is also an IT professional. While she believes it’s up to the parents to identify the “innate” genius every child has, she says there’s nothing special about their parenting.

The couple says they are not going to give their son any electronic gadgets anytime soon and they want him to have the real childhood rather than the “make-believe world” of iPads and computers.

“Making them [children] far more attuned to the make-believe world of iPads and tablets and computers, kind of makes them move away from reality,” said Mr Chavali.
