An international student from Pakistan has been assaulted by a group of people, and his car stolen in Melbourne’s south-east.
Muzammal Bilal was working night shift as a security guard at a public park in Dandenong when the incident occurred in the early hours on Friday.
According to Bilal, he was sitting in his car at around 1.30 am when someone hit his car. When he came out of the car to check what had happened, he was punched by a male who was accompanied by two females.
Bilal says his attacker was then joined by multiple youths.

“I tried to run back into my car, but they dragged me out and kept raining blows on me.
“They were at least 8-10 people, I can’t say exactly how many. They just kept on hitting me,” he told SBS Punjabi.
Bilal’s partner who was sitting in his car a few meters ahead came to his rescue.
“We were on duty together that night. He couldn’t have done anything to protect me from so many people. He just reversed his car and I quickly ran and sat in it,” he said.
One of the alleged attackers took his car key from his shirt pocket and drove off in his Toyota Camry which was later found abandoned on Springvale road after being crashed into a pole.

The car has been written off.
Bilal approached the police but hasn’t been able to give the full description of the assailants as he says he was “too distressed”.
Bilal says he recognises one of the offenders.
“I saw him at a store in Springvale last month where I was doing a shift. I filed a report about the man at that time.”
Though the attack has left him shaken, but Bilal says he is trying to get over the trauma and would like to return to the university and his work if his head scan returns all clear on Monday.
