Family of Indian killed in car crash thanks good Samaritans for help

Manjit Dhadwal's family thanked two men who saw him being struck by a taxi and immediately pulled over and performed a CPR on him.

60-year-old Manjit Dhadwal was killed after being struck by a taxi while he was crossing a road in Adelaide on Wednesday.

Jarrad Sheppard and Brodie Hunt witnessed Mr Dhadwal being hit by the vehicle and they immediately performed CPR on him before an ambulance arrived.

Mr Dhadwal was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Sunday, his family thanked Mr Sheppard and Mr Brodie for helping Mr Dhadwal in his final moments.

His nephew Bick Singh hugged the two men and told they had "big hearts".

“For them to drive over the median strip and try to get my uncle to respond and everything else, it just goes to show they're great Samaritans," he said.

Family and friends paid floral tributes to Mr Dhadwal at the scene of the crash at Anzac highway where he died on Wednesday night.

Mr Dhadwal moved to Australia nearly 30 years ago from Punjab in India.

Three years ago, his sister Harvinder Kaur was killed in a car crash in South Australia.

“I don’t know why it happens, everyone is asking why is God doing this to us, I can’t answer that,” Bick Singh told .

No charges have been laid against the driver of the taxi that was heading towards Adelaide city at the time of the crash.
