Adam Blazak, do Birô, disse que o ciclone poderá chegar à categoria 4, causando grandes estragos e prejuizos, com ventos de até 250 km por hora.
"It's quite a severe cyclone, so expect people affected by this cyclone to probably go extended periods without power. Plenty of roof damage. Mature trees down. There will be large flying debris. You'll want to be inside - places like caravans really don't stand a chance."
James Taylor, também do Birô de Meteorologia, disse que quanto mais tempo o ciclone fica em cima do mar, em formação, maior a sua intensidade.
"Late crossing on Monday would mean that the tropical cyclone would have the potential to reach at least category three. Categroy 3 is defined as a severe tropical cyclone and with cyclone of that intensity we expect destructive winds at least in the order of 165 to more than 200 kilometres per hour and those sorts of wind strengths are strong enough to bring down buildings that aren't built to tropical cyclone surveying codes."
