The Australian feature documentary Countryman (or MANU WALJJI in Warumungu/ ZEMLJAK in Croatian) has been touring Australian cities on the lead up to and during National Reconciliation Week 2023. The tour comprises screenings hosted by various community organisations across the country, followed by Q&A sessions allowing the co-producers to share their multilayered stories.

Countryman was directed and co-produced by Peter Pecotić, an Australian with Croatian heritage and Joseph Williams, an Australian First Nations Warumungu artist also with Croatian heritage.

The film begins with an epic 10,000 kilometre road trip around Australia in search of descendants of Croatian migrants.

The story takes an unexpected turn when Peter meets Joseph, an emerging Warumungu artist also with Croatian heritage from his long-lost father.
