24-year-old Arishma Singh was found dead inside her home in Auckland, New Zealand on early Sunday morning.

Arishma Archana Singh aka Archana Chand was separated from her husband and lived with her three-year-old daughter and parents in Auckland.

Chand’s daughter was away with the father for the weekend and her parents were out with relatives when she returned home from a party with a friend on late Saturday night.

Chand’s friend left after dropping her.

Around 12:45 on Sunday morning, Chand called her parents and said there was someone outside, police said.

When her parents returned home 20 minutes later, they found her lying “in a pool of blood” on the floor of her bedroom, reported.

Detective Inspector Gary Lendrum said police believe the suspect was known to Chand.

"From the preliminary examination of the scene, we don't believe that this is a random attack," Lendrum was quoted as saying by said on Monday

"I'm basing that in the fact that there was no sign of forced entry to the address and the interior has not been disturbed in any way."

Police are yet to make any arrests.
Chand worked as a child educator at a childcare. Raj Singh, the administrator of AIEC trust, the childcare centre said Arishma Singh had worked there for a year-and-a-half and was a hard-working person.

"[She was] very caring and always smiling and very hard working.

"I think she'll be remembered as a very smiling, bubbly young girl who loved spending time with children."

Police would like to hear from any members of the community that may have been in the Maich Road area of Manurewa on Saturday night.
