While still a few months away, preparations are well underway for the weekend fiesta that claims the title of the “largest celebration of Greek culture in the world”.

The Greek Community of Melbourne has already started the “behind the scenes” preparations promising it will be “a weekend to remember” on 5-6 March 2022.

In its 2021 version, the Greek street party was adapted to pandemic standards, ticketed with a cap on attendees and downsized to one main stage without Lonsdale Street closing down, while 30 min breaks between performances allowed for sanitising of tables and for a ‘change of guard’ in attendees in preparation for the next concert.

While details for the 2022 Antipodes Festival are yet to be released, organisers have kickstarted talks and planning with both state and local government to ensure “the best festival while also being covid safe.”

For those keen to participate either with a stall or in a performer capacity, expressions of interest are now open.
