Close to a hundred Filipino residents in Queensland are being sworn in throughout today at a Filipino citizenship ceremony in Calamvale in Brisbane as part of the Philippine Embassy's Consular mobile mission supported by the Philippine Consulate of Queensland.

Honorary Consul of Queensland Sheryll Gabutero said that this continues their series of consular missions across the State following their recent visits to regional centres Toowoomba, Dalby, Goondiwindi, and Roma.

Ms Gabutero said her office is working to bring their services to more Filipinos across Queensland to respond to the increasing demand.

Based on the 2021 Australian Bureau Statistics survey, there were over 73,000 Queenslanders of Filipino descent, and over 51,000 of whom were born in the Philippines.
