COVID-19 Update: ‘Victorians have done the hard work’ says Premier as restrictions to ease from midnight

  • Restrictions will ease in Victoria from midnight tonight with density limits being removed for all vaccinated people.
  • Victoria has made major changes to isolation rules with positive cases having to quarantine for 10 days and close contacts having to quarantine only till they receive their negative PCR report. However, household contacts will have to quarantine.
  • The Victorian parliament has postponed the  pandemic powers bill debate.
  • NT authorities await results on genomic sequencing to find the source of outbreak.
  • Prime Minister Scott Morrison says with more than 80 per cent double vaccinations, it’s time for governments to step back and Australians take their lives back.

COVID-19 STATS:

Victoria recorded 1,007 locally acquired cases and 12 deaths. 
NSW recorded 262 new community cases and three deaths. 
ACT has recorded 25 new local cases.
