據華文媒體《今日悉尼》報道，涉事的是國立大學的信息科技計算機課程。
從網民上載的相片可見，教師在屏幕上顯示「I will not tolerate students who cheat」的字句，再在下方加上簡體中文的翻譯：「我无法容忍学生作弊」。
事件引來學生質疑，指明明課堂上有來自印度、韓國的留學生，為何偏要用中文提示學生，質疑教師對中國留學生有偏見。
《今日悉尼》形容事件為另一宗「辱華醜聞」。
有中國留學生在國立大學的社交網站 Facebook 頁面貼文，但被管理員刪除。
該名涉事的講師在星期一晚被逼向學生發電郵道歉，又解釋指有部份學生向他表示，不是所有學生都能準確地理解這些句子，因此才加上中文的翻譯。
「I was told by some students for whom English was not their first language, that the meaning of the sentences was not necessarily clear to everyone. Since a very large fraction of the class has Chinese as their first language, I thought it would help the class understand the point by printing it in Chinese as well as English.」
