Many of us rely on our morning cup of coffee to give us a push when we're feeling a bit sluggish after rolling out of bed. But how would you feel about getting your morning buzz from a bagel, instead?

A bagel company in the US, , has gone one better than a simple cuppa joe - they've decided to release an espresso bagel that actually contains caffeine.
Now, it might not be as strong as your regular double shot latte - it only contains 32mg of caffeine, which is around in Australia.

The caffeine in the bagel comes from both espresso, and the use of coffee-cherry flour.

During a taste testing, some users said that the bagel tasted throughout the first few bites, but eventually became quite bitter due to the espresso. Other users said that the 'chewy coffee' nature of the bagels was pleasant, and said they wished they had a coffee to drink with it.

In a statement to , senior vice President of Einstein Bros. Bagels, Kerry Coyne, said that the company had been working on the recipe for 9 months. "We have watched the coffee category expand and adapt as Millennials converted to coffee drinkers, attracted by the smoother flavour and artisanal characteristics of third and fourth-wave coffee."

The bagels are just limited edition right now, but will become a permanent fixture if they sell well.

The reactions seem mixed so far:
