The idea behind the restaurant is to show that with a bit of understanding, people who suffer from dementia can be engaged members of society.

Usually receiving the wrong order while dining at a restaurant is frustrating and annoying, but one restaurant in Japan made that their unique selling point.

The Restaurant of Order Mistakes in Tokyo's Toyosu district hired waitstaff with dementia, whose memory loss and brain function impairment meant they may not get your order right.

The idea is to highlight the fact that with a bit of understanding people who suffer from the brain disorder can be useful and engaged members of society, reports.

The pop-up restaurant was open for a trial from June 2 to June 4 and is set to open again later in the year. Reports found it a big success:

Food blogger ordered a hamburger but was brought gyoza dumplings instead, which she was happy with.

She also noted that the servers with early-onset dementia were smiling and enjoying themselves.
While the trial period has now passed, the organisers are planning for another pop-up event in September to mark World Alzheimer's Day (September 21).
