Ice-cream ramen is a thing, and it's both confusing and oddly appetising

Ramen, the universal food of the poor uni student, has been given a glorious makeover. And it's all thanks to the power of ice-cream. Well, sort of...

They say you can’t go wrong with ice-cream.  But what about ice-cream ramen?

It’s the latest food trend to take dessert bars by storm.  But the kicker is ice-cream ramen isn’t even made of ice cream OR ramen.
In fact, the new wacky dessert is made with crushed ice and condensed milk (sort of like ice-cream) along with jelly noodles made of algae (sort of like ramen).

The whole dish is topped with fresh fruit (sort of like meat and vegetable) and some sugar syrup, adding to the whole ‘bowl of ramen’ aesthetic.
But it's not the first time the frozen confectionary and Japanese noodle have been

in Yokohama, Japan first tried marrying the two foods back in 2011, though in a very different way.
The new trendy ice-cream ramen is currently being served at in New York.

The iconic dessert bar is also known for other Asian savoury dish-inspired desserts like , and red tea ice cream.
It's probably only a matter of time before ice-cream ramen graces our Aussie shores, but 'til then we'll just enjoy the dish from afar.
